| Tocotrienol - together with tocopherols - compose the vitamin E family. This family consists of eight naturally occurring forms; a family of four tocopherols (alpha, beta, gamma, and delta) and four tocotrienols (alpha, beta, gamma, and delta). Their forms work together synergistically and it is best to supplement with both.
Studies show that tocotrienols are potent antioxidants and that they help to lower total blood cholesterol, reverse arterial blockage, lower blood pressure, and inhibit platelet aggregation; hence reducing the risk factors for cardio-vascular diseases such as arteriosclerosis and stroke.
Tocotrienols also help anti-cancer properties. Gamma-tocotrienol has been found to be three times more potent in inhibiting growth of human breast cancer cultured cells than Tamoxifen. Tocotrienols also reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and other protection against UV-induced skin damage and skin aging.
