Sadly, she is not an outlier—she is part of a rapidly growing population of American children medicated for emotional and behavioral struggles. In fourth grade, Renae Smith began having difficulty in school and was prescribed Focalin for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
