Why Most Americans Are Nutrient Deficient (And What to Do About It)

A pandemic of chronic and degenerative disease is sweeping across America—cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, and Alzheimer’s are all on the rise. Even our children are affected. Today’s kids are not expected to live as long as their parents—a shocking reversal in life expectancy.

The Root of the Problem: Malnutrition in a Well-Fed Nation

Despite living in one of the best-fed nations in the world, malnutrition is now the leading cause of disease. One of the biggest health myths we still believe is that a “balanced diet” is enough. Unfortunately, thanks to depleted soils, over-farming, artificial fertilizers, poor crop rotation, premature harvesting, and long transit times, modern foods are severely lacking in nutrients.

The produce in today’s supermarkets is not the same as what our grandparents ate.

  • Carrots have lost up to 95% of their zinc and 75% of their magnesium due to soil depletion.

  • Spinach can lose 60% of its folic acid in just 3 days.

  • Green beans and broccoli lose 50% of their vitamin C before they even hit the produce aisle.

And that's before cooking, which can strip even more nutrients from our food.

Nobel Prize winner Dr. Linus Pauling once said,

“You can trace every sickness, every disease and every ailment to a mineral deficiency.”

The 1992 Earth Summit Report confirmed it: 99% of Americans are mineral deficient.
