Antioxidants from Beyond Health

Oxidation in our bodies is a major cause of aging and disease. If you want to feel your best, avoid diseases down the line and maximize your healing potential, you need to keep oxidation under control.

Fortunately antioxidants do just that.  Antioxidants are compounds made by our bodies and derived from our diets or supplements that curtail oxidation and its damaging effects.

Unfortunately, however, the oxidizing effects of stress, environmental pollution and other toxins, chronic illness and excess body fat that characterize modern life have multiplied our need for antioxidants, so that most of us are suffering from “oxidative stress”—meaning we don’t have enough antioxidants to manage our level of oxidation.

For the vast majority antioxidant supplementation has become necessary.

Taking an array of different antioxidant supplements is the best approach since they work somewhat differently, complement and synergize with each other, and regenerate each other.

We suggest that everyone, including young and healthy people, start out with a high-quality multi that provides minimal quantities of the major antioxidant vitamins (A, C, D, E, and K) and minerals (copper, magnesium, manganese, selenium and zinc) and add extra vitamin C and enough vitamin D3 to achieve 50ng/dL on a blood test.

You can add plenty of antioxidants to your diet with one of our supplement-grade teas, chosen for their exceptionally high antioxidant content, and our meal replacement product Berry Meal Blast.

Antioxidant power is measured in ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) units. At least 3,000-5,000 ORAC units are recommended daily under ideal circumstances, but most of us need many times this amount.

Steeping a cup of our green tea for one minute will yield about 3,000 ORAC units if you use chlorine-free water (chlorine kills antioxidants).  Our white tea will yield even more, our oolong tea slightly less.

Our Berry Meal Blast furnishes 14,000 ORAC units per serving!

Our Cell Detox Formula helps the body make its own antioxidants. This supplement was designed for people exposed to toxins on a regular basis, which would include most of us these days.  Even driving to work in heavy traffic is enough to significantly deplete antioxidant reserves.

If you’re older and have developed some health issues, consider taking extra minerals in our Bone Mineral Formula, extra vitamin E in a mixed tocopherol formula (vitamin E is particularly important in preventing oxidized LDL from initiating the process of atherosclerosis) and vitamin C to bowel tolerance.

Also consider taking one of our two quercetin products:  Cell Repair Formula combines quercetin, a powerful antioxidant plant compound, with additional antioxidant plant compounds called OPCs and an extremely high antioxidant content pomegranate powder. Quercetin Pro combines quercetin with rutin and whole grape extract, both chock full of antioxidants.

Our Cell Defender Formula is the most complete and powerful antioxidant formula anywhere. It supplies a whopping 484,000 ORAC units per day from 30 different plant sources along with nutrients that stimulate the body to make its own antioxidants.

Additional antioxidant supplements  in Beyond Health’s repertoire include Berberine, Carotene Formula, CoQ10, Curcumin, Glutathione Formula, and Liver Care; and these Beyond Health supplements have antioxidant properties: Allergy Defense, Glucose Control, Joint Protection Formula, MSM, Prostate Formula. Now that we have several different ways of measuring oxidative stress, people with seemingly incurable illnesses may be able to use these tests along with substantial quantities of antioxidant supplements to see some real progress.
