Radiation Protection

. . . a prudent response to increasing environmental radioactivity Share and Enjoy: Print Facebook Twitteremail LinkedIn Radiation does its harm by generating massive amounts of free radicals that do oxidative damage to DNA and cause cancer years later. To combat oxidation, optimize your antioxidant status by eating plenty of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. Take vitamin C to bowel tolerance (call our office for instructions), and supplement with other antioxidants like vitamins A, D and E, N-acetyl cysteine, alpha-lipoic acid, curcumin, quercitin, selenium, CoQ10 and tocotrienols. Gamma tocotrienols have been proven protective against radiation exposure. Lipoic acid also has powerful anti-radiation effects: Giving lipoic acid to children who lived in areas damaged by Chernobyl for 28 days normalized radiation-related abnormalities. A combination of lipoic acid and vitamin E even improved the children's health markers above what was considered normal. Support DNA repair with vitamins B3, B6, B12 and folate, as well as zinc and acetyl L-carnitine. Make sure you're not deficient in iodine. Iodine concentrates in the thyroid gland, where it's used to make thyroid hormone. If your thyroid isn't getting all the iodine it needs, it will readily absorb radioactive iodine, a leading cause of thyroid cancer. Since iodine deficiency is common, if you haven't already done so, get your iodine levels tested. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends reverse osmosis (RO) filtration systems as the best way to protect yourself from radioactive contaminants in drinking water. If you live on the West Coast, this is a concern. In most other parts of the country, radiation in drinking water is usually not a major problem; however if the soil in your area is naturally rich in radon, radium, uranium, plutonium or any of the lesser known radioactive elements, your drinking water can contain high levels of radioactive particles. No matter where you live, however, public water is so toxic it is unfit for human consumption, making a superior RO water treatment system like Beyond Health's a virtual household necessity. Good health is your best protection against the ravages of radiation. When you're healthy, all of your defense mechanisms operate at peak performance. So cut out the Big Four (sugar, wheat, processed oils and dairy/excess animal protein), get your 10-12 servings of fruits and vegetables daily, eliminate toxins from household and body care products, get on a high-quality supplement program, get regular exercise, take saunas, get adequate sleep, and engage in stress reduction practices like meditation. These are the foundations of good health, and they will protect you from disease, aging and radiation damage. "Like" Us on Facebook Sign-Up for our News Clips
