Discover The Importance of Iodine for Your Health

Here is a clean, modern Beyond Health rewrite — text only, balanced, science-forward, and compliant, while preserving the core message about iodine’s broader role in health. Iodine: Not Just for the Thyroid When most people hear “iodine,” they think immediately of the thyroid. And while iodine is essential for healthy thyroid hormone production, its importance does not stop there. Every cell in the body depends on adequate iodine for proper function. Iodine plays roles in: Thyroid hormone production Cellular metabolism Immune system signaling Hormonal balance It is a foundational micronutrient — not a single-purpose one. Iodine and the Immune System White blood cells rely on iodine as part of the body’s natural defense system. Iodine contributes to the production of antimicrobial compounds that support immune resilience. Without sufficient iodine, immune efficiency may be compromised — especially under stress. A Widespread Deficien…

Understanding Fluoride and Hypothyroidism Risks

Feeling tired all the time? Cold intolerant? Depressed? Constipated? Losing your hair? Do you gain weight easily, or have muscle or joint pain, or are you forgetful and unable to concentrate? These are some of the major symptoms of hypothyroidism, a condition in which your thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormone or not enough hormone is getting into your cells to do its job. If hypothyroidism is a problem for you, you may be surprised to learn that fluoride, which is dumped by the ton into much of our public water, was once used as a medication for deliberately suppressing thyroid function in cases of overactive thyroid. Why are we dumping a thyroid-suppressing drug into our public water?  Good question! Even the government’s National Research Council voiced concern about fluoride’s effects on the thyroid in a 2006 report. They found “clear evidence” that amounts of fluoride at or near levels added to US water present potential risks to the th…

EPA Releases Data on Milk: Key Insights Revealed

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to release new data showing that various milk and water supply samples from across the US are testing increasingly high for radioactive elements such as Iodine-131, Cesium-134, and Cesium-137, all of which are being emitted from the ongoing Fukushima Daiichia nuclear fallout. As of April 10, 2011, 23 US water supplies have tested positive for radioactive Iodine-131, and worst of all, milk samples from at least three US locations have tested positive for Iodine-131 at levels exceeding EPA maximum containment levels (MCL). As far as the water supplies are concerned, it is important to note that the EPA is only testing for radioactive Iodine-131. There are no readings or data available for cesium, uranium, or plutonium -- all of which are being continuously emitted from Fukushima, as far as we know -- even though these elements are all much more deadly than Iodine-131. Beyond Health have precautions available to you. Please…

Understanding Japanese Radiation: Facts and Insights

BHN has received many emails and phone calls from people concerned about the radiation leaking from the Japanese nuclear reactors. There is no question that dangerous amounts of radioactive particles have been released and have been carried in the prevailing jet stream winds impacting the west coast from Los Angeles to Alaska and the rest of the world as well. While government officials try to play down the danger, radiation researchers say there is no such thing as a safe level of radiation.Radiation generates massive amounts of free radicals, which do oxidative damage to DNA and cause cancer years later. This is why it is a good idea to maximize your overall antioxidant defenses. The problems with radioactive iodine are well known. Japanese health authorities are passing out iodine tablets to those in the vicinity of these reactors. Because most Americans are deficient in iodine, absorbing the radioactive iodine isotopes can be a real problem. The body will absorb the isotopes when i…
