Discover the “Miracle Cure” for Depression Suppressed

A Vitamin B12 Story: Extraordinary Healing—and Institutional Resistance

This is a good-news/bad-news story.

The Good News

As reported by investigative journalist Lynne McTaggart in The Optimist, a physician in England—originally from India—has spent more than forty years quietly achieving what most consider impossible.

Joseph Chandy became widely known for reversing severe depression in hundreds of patients—and, remarkably, for producing dramatic improvements in patients with multiple sclerosis and chronic fatigue syndrome.

In a 2006 BBC segment, former MS patients described standing up from wheelchairs after treatment.

His “miraculous” therapy?

Vitamin B12 injections.

Why This Worked

Dr. Chandy recognized something foundational early in his career:
one of the two true causes of disease is nutrient deficiency.

As Raymond Francis wrote as far back as 2003:

Proper nutrition is the single most important factor in preventing and reversing depression.

Francis also noted that the inventor of Valium later discovered that B vitamins could replicate Valium’s anti-anxiety effects—without addiction or side effects. Those findings were quietly buried, never embraced by mainstream medicine, and published only in an obscure foreign journal.

The Vitamin B12 Discovery

While working early in his career in India, Dr. Chandy observed something striking.
A senior physician at his hospital routinely treated Hindu patients—many of them vegetarians—with liver extract, achieving excellent results.

Liver is one of the richest natural sources of vitamin B12.

Vegetarians are particularly vulnerable to B12 deficiency, as B12 is found almost exclusively in animal foods. In these patients, correcting B12 deficiency produced rapid and profound improvements, especially in mood and neurological function.

This observation shaped Dr. Chandy’s lifelong clinical approach.

Depression Is Often a Nutrient Problem

Vitamin B12 deficiency is only one of many nutritional deficiencies that can contribute to depression.

Optimal brain function requires:

  • The full B-vitamin complex

  • Vitamin C

  • Vitamin D

  • Omega-3 fatty acids

  • Zinc

  • Magnesium

Deficiency in any one—or combination—of these can impair neurotransmitter production, myelin integrity, energy metabolism, and stress resilience.

(For a deeper dive, see Raymond Francis’ article The Depression Epidemic.)

The Bad News

Despite decades of clinical success and patient testimony, British medical authorities have forbidden Dr. Chandy from diagnosing or treating any condition with vitamin B12, declaring the therapy “dangerous and unproven.”

Dr. Chandy calls it what it appears to be:

“A witch hunt. They know I am right, but I am challenging antiquated thinking.”

He is no longer allowed to use B12 therapeutically.

Fortunately, his former patients have organized and are pressing Parliament to lift the ban. We wish them success.

What This Means for You

If you suffer from depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, or unexplained fatigue, it’s important to know:

You do not need injections to benefit from vitamin B12.

High-quality sublingual B12 can deliver equivalent benefits by bypassing the digestive system entirely.

Beyond Health’s B12/Folate Sublingual combines:

  • Methylcobalamin – fast-acting, neurologically active

  • Hydroxocobalamin – longer-lasting tissue support

Absorption occurs directly through the oral mucosa, avoiding common barriers such as:

  • Low stomach acid

  • Lack of intrinsic factor

  • Gut inflammation or leaky gut

Symptoms of Vitamin B12 Deficiency

B12 deficiency can be subtle—or devastating. Symptoms may include:

  • Fatigue and weakness

  • Depression, anxiety, agitation

  • Brain fog, memory loss, reduced mental clarity

  • Numbness, tingling, or pain in extremities

  • Balance problems and tremors

  • Insomnia

  • Dementia-like symptoms

  • Incontinence

Left uncorrected, deficiency can become irreversible.

The Takeaway

This story is not really about one doctor.
It’s about a medical system that treats symptoms while ignoring causes.

At Beyond Health, we stand firmly on this principle:

Correct the deficiency. Remove the toxicity. Health follows.

Vitamin B12 is not controversial.
What’s controversial is curing disease without drugs.
