The Amazing Spice -- Curcumin!

. . . what does this spice NOT do for health?   The more I learn about curcumin, an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory component of the spice turmeric, the happier I am I take it daily and the more I urge others to do the same. No matter what your health issue, curcumin can help.  In my research for my new book on cancer, I was blown away by curcumin's many different strategies for defeating this dread disease. It helped to prevent damaged cells from becoming cancer cells in several different ways, and if a cell did manage to become cancerous it had even more tricks up its sleeve for arresting its progression, including increasing cancer cell death.  But the good news doesn't end with cancer. In fact, there isn't a single disease that can't benefit from this magical substance! As a powerful anti-inflammatory, it's as effective as NSAIDS and cortisone. It reduces the amyloid plaques in Alzheimer's disease. Large doses can improve glucose tolerance, decrease insulin resistance and even reduce body fat. It is extraordinarily healing to the colon and greatly reduces ulcer formation caused by stress or toxins. It repairs muscle better than any known substance and reduces muscle wasting in disease and aging.  It may reverse postmenopausal bone loss. I could go on and on raving about curcumin. The bottom line is it has an amazing effect on biochemistry that benefits every single cell in your body! As always, it's important to get curcumin from a source you can trust like Beyond Health, and to remember that the most expensive supplements you can buy are supplements that don't work! Many curcumin products provide only a fraction of what's listed on the label; others have been found to be contaminated with lead. Most are poorly absorbed. Our carefully-researched curcumin formula has been proven in clinical studies by the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas to be safe, pure, biologically effective and well-absorbed after oral ingestion. Two 250 mg capsules would be a good dose for most people, although those with special problems need more. Reported side effects are uncommon and are generally limited to mild stomach distress that is resolved by eating some food.
